Homework Friday, Day Five, 2/29/2008

FOR ALL CLASSES:

Compare Zeffirelli's film version with Shakespeare's original text.

First: Prdict whether or not Zeffirelli will remain basically true to shakeseare's text.

Secondly: Identify Zeffirelli's changes, add ons, leftouts.

Thirdly: Discuss why you believe Zeffirelli has made the changes that he has.

Finally: Evaluate the changes-do the changes "work" or don't "work" and explain why.

As you consider your positions and opinions, always keep in mind that shakespeare wrote his play for his stage--an open-to-trhe-heavens stage. And remember too that Zeffirelli had the advantage of venue--that is, he had a movie sound stage located in a medieval setting , better sound, better lighting, etc., etc.

Well-after a week of not being able to sign in and blog, it's good to be back.

ALL CLASSES: I've rescheduled the R & J quiz for Tueday, Feb 12,Day 3.

Please remember to bring your R & J texts. If you haven't brought in your $6.00, please do so. Other students have changed their minds and want their own copy. So get 'em while they last.

I am assuming that since your parents DID NOT return permission slips, it's okay for you to watch each of the three movies (bits and pieces anyway).
