FOR ALL CLASSES:
Compare Zeffirelli's film version with Shakespeare's original text.
First: Prdict whether or not Zeffirelli will remain basically true to shakeseare's text.
Secondly: Identify Zeffirelli's changes, add ons, leftouts.
Thirdly: Discuss why you believe Zeffirelli has made the changes that he has.
Finally: Evaluate the changes-do the changes "work" or don't "work" and explain why.
As you consider your positions and opinions, always keep in mind that shakespeare wrote his play for his stage--an open-to-trhe-heavens stage. And remember too that Zeffirelli had the advantage of venue--that is, he had a movie sound stage located in a medieval setting , better sound, better lighting, etc., etc.
